Types of couples you will find in Campus

Do you ever look at some couples in college and feel nauseous? Sadly you will never fail to miss a couple in such a society unless the institution lays down strict rules on relationships. Rules are rules and in campus they are meant to be broken. We have heard the 10 to 10 rule that has ruled over Kenyan Universities for decades but has failed to cub relationships. Students are getting in and out of relationships all over Kenyan Universities and it is not going to stop anytime soon. Couples are different and as a student community we classify them into 6 somehow interesting or boring for that matter groups.

1. Celebrity couple

This is a couple that involves the two most known students on campus. They might be both student leaders who are well known by the majority of students. They can also be models or artists in the university. This relationship is always clear to the whole student fraternity.

2. Goals couple

This is the point of reference when anyone on campus wants to have a relationship. The goals couple is always sweet together and they fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Their relationship only brings admiration from other students and if any cute couple is mentioned in school their names always come first.

3. Silent couple

This type of couple in campus hides everything they do. It comes off as a cult really and no one else knows about their relationship. They are never seen together in public and will always deny rumors linking them together. It takes the highest level of intelligence to notice they are actually dating.

4. Same course couple

Classes in Kenyan Universities always bring up a couple. It is always hard to maintain this type of relationship but they do exist in the long run. Although there is much onslaught from other students on dating a class mate, this kind of couple always puts up with everything including seeing each other for 24 hours.

5. Drama couple

This is the complete opposite of the Goals couple. There is always something to say about this couple. They match clothes sometimes, walk arm in arm and sometimes fight in public! This couple always causes uproar among the students but not in a likeable way but in a ‘I want to know what they did today’ way. They are a show off couple wanting to be known as dating among students when all they are attracting is attention.

6. Roommate couple

Some students move in with each other in their first few weeks in college or later. They grow into roommates and become a couple. Their default status ends in a relationship that they cannot hide from the students. They are seldom talked about because they always attract too little or no attention at all.

THE INTERVIEWEE WHO HATED ME

Six years ago a guy looked at me face to face, and boldly told me; "I don't like you!"
I immediately fired a response, I asked him that day; "Thank you for the honest feedback, but those that you like, how has it made their life better? How does your liking people pay their bills or take a bank loan? My brother keep your like, I need God's like And that's what guarantees my future.

Today I joined a CEO friend of mine in an interview Panel to recruit some new staff, it was a long session, as we returned from a coffee break to continue the hectic interview session, here was this same guy walked in with his grey jacket and CV coming for the interview.

Our eyes kissed by fluke, we immediately recognized each other; "the world is indeed spherical", I soliloquized.
He felt very uncomfortable through out the interview, one could clearly see the volcanic eruption ongoing in his whole nervous system, he even mistook his date of birth for his last date of employment. It wasn't yet my turn to ask him questions so I allowed everyone to take their turns with him and deliberately opted to interview him last.

When it got to my turn, the first thing I said was, "I LIKE YOU so much, you look to me like a brilliant and intelligent person, but it seems you are not doing well now because something bothers you, true?"

"That's very correct Sir!" He responded.

"OK look at me straight in the eye, I was never offended that day, it is very normal that sometimes as humans you just don't like certain people, but I wasn't bothered either, because whether you liked me or not, it was inconsequential to my life and my success path - as you can see, fate has brought you to my lair"

I stood up and beckoned him to come and embrace me, everyone on the panel at this point were at sea - wondering if we had expeditiously recast an interview session to a Hollywood movie scene.

He hugged me so long and deeply that I felt it. Then I told him, "now get your confidence back bro and answer the questions like a Pro Shark that you are, we all burst into laughter, everyone suddenly liked him and the room became livelier - the interview became more like a discussion, well to cut the long story short, he got the job!

Lessons:

1. Be careful how you treat people when they appear to be in their vulnerable state, your next level may be hanging in their balance; somewhere in the future.

2. If you dislike someone, it is not their fault, it is YOUR FAULT, work on yourself to find good in people and reinvent your Mind to see everyone as likeable.

3. Don't spew hatred vocally just because it came into your heart, you may say it to someone who will keep it forever and use it against you when you find yourself in your own low moments and need them.

4. Learn to forgive, overlook people's dislike and hatred for you, don't punish people just because you have the position and privilege to do so, bless them rather - that's how you court God's blessings, favour and protection.

5. Share this post, someone needs it to heal from their past burdens of unforgiveness they have been carrying which has been hindering their promotions and inhibiting God's blessings flowing their way!

As part of its strategy to bring governance closer to the people, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) held its Osun State Governorship live debate in Yoruba language.

This initiative, the first in the country, BBC said is a pilot to next year’s General elections where it intends to do the debate in the three major languages in the country-Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa- as well as English language.

Governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ADC, ADP and SDP would take part in the 90 minutes.

According to BBC’s publicist Marina Forsythe, the debate was meant to build impactful governance in Osun State.

“The BBC has done debates before general elections in the United Kingdom and will be extending this culture to Nigeria.

“BBC Yoruba, one of the newly launched language services kicked off the Nigeria debate series in Osun State with the theme: Building impactful governance in Osun State.

All Governorship aspirants were in attendance except for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who did not show up for the meeting.

Garba Lawal, Yisa Shofolowe expect Super Eagles to beat Seychelles

The two former Nigerian internationals have tipped the Eagles to have an easy win in Victoria against the Pirates on Saturday afternoon

Garba Lawal and Yisa Shofolowe have stated that they expect the Super Eaglesto easily overrun Seychelles this weekend in their African Cup of Nation qualifierbilled for Stade Linite in Victoria.

Seychelles are ranked 188th in the world and ahead of the Saturday’s fixture with the Pirates Lawal asserted that people expect the senior national team to thrash the hosts silly.

He said with the Eagles losing start to the Afcon qualifiers to South Africa it was important for the team to beat Seychelles well to nullify the goals deficit ahead of their two crucial fixtures with Libya next month.

“There is no big deal in Nigeria facing Seychelles and if we even beat them 10-0 I don’t think there is anything special about it,” Lawal told Goal.

“I think the Eagles are fortified to win the game. It is what they must do because we are not in the same category as them. They know that they need a win badly because of the way they started the Afcon qualifiers with a loss to South Africa at home.

“We don’t have any business discussing Seychelles because no one will reckon with the outcome of the game irrespective of the scores. The Eagles should use that opportunity to score as many goals as possible to make up for their 2-0 home loss to South Africa.”

Shofolowe who also played for the Green Eagles during his active days expressed that the Southern African are for the taking if the Super Eagles are serious about what they are doing.

He said Nigeria has no excuse not to beat Seychelles at their backyard because they are not a notable football playing Nation in Africa and that the Eagles who are mostly foreign-based players must do the needful on Saturday.

“We have to win now. We do not have any excuse at all and we must win convincingly,” Shofolowe told Us.

“I am still struggling to locate where they on the world map. They are not a known football country and the Eagles do not have anything to point at as an excuse not to beat them. We must show them that we are better than them.”

The Eagles are third in the Group E of the Afcon qualifiers without any point after one game and they are behind Libya and South Africa who both have three points each.

The Saturday game is slated for Stade Linite, Victoria by 1.30pm Nigerian time and Gavin Jeanne’s men are expected to repel the Eagles in their attempt to secure their biggest competitive result since 2004 when they pipped Zimbabwe 2-1 at home in another Afcon qualifier.

The two nations have never met before but the West Africans should have very little trouble in dispatching their lowly ranked opponents
